Not paying this one

We spoke about 30-day accounts and the money-go-round yesterday, and it’s been interesting to read the replies surrounding the subject. I know many of you guys are outside Victoria, but here, we have been hit with the daily double, the Land tax and the emergency service levy, which has really blindsided many Farmers. Ones who, in many cases, have half a lifetime volunteering to either the CFA (Country Fire Authority) or the SES (State Emergency Services). Now, they want to tax them with a levy because they are Farmers, which in some cases will be tens or thousands of dollars. The money is going straight into the state coffers, and none of it will be used in the above-mentioned services. It’s just a blatant money grab. We like to stay on the positive side of things at The Farmers Club, but sometimes, you have to be a realist and listen to the problems people have. This one has really hurt them. The protest some are running with it that they are refusing to pay. Although it’s not a Tractor rally down the city street type protest, by not paying, it’s certainly something they feel some empowerment over. These people are proper citizens who pay their bills and taxes, but this one has sent them to the brink. Do you think it's unethical not to pay this levy?  Reply to [email protected] or 0427 011 900
