The “Club Notes” for Saturday, the 1st of February, 2025.

Not arrogant - A good start
I put this article up about the new CEO of the NFF on social media, and the new CEO replied. This is what he said: "G'day... I may be seen as a bit of a rogue appointment, but my core strength has always been bringing people together to push a reform agenda at both parliamentary and departmental levels. That's why I'm genuinely excited about the NFF role and the opportunity to work closely with its members and the broader sector. Leveraging their experience, advice, and guidance will be the basis for much of my work. Since my family arrived in Australia in late 1831, if it weren't for a couple of droughts and a world war, I'd probably be working a cattle station or sheep farm that were in the family. But I'm happy where circumstances have put me, advocating for farmers and the communities they support. All the best. Troy". The first thing I want to acknowledge is that it's good to get a reply. To me, this proves that our new CEO is not arrogant and will engage. Tick. Another lady replied with this: "As an ex-registered training organisation CEO and a member of ITECA, I can vouch for Troy as a truth-teller and excellent negotiator who will always use real data when advocating. He will not back down". Another tick. I just got off the phone with another person who endorsed Troy's capabilities. 3rd tick. So, we look forward to what he can deliver and give Ag a new seat at the table. What I like most is his non-arrogant approach. How refreshing is that and let's hope it continues. When you talk to some people high up in Ag advocacy, they talk to you whilst peering over your shoulder and looking for someone more important to talk to. How would you like the new NFF CEO to act?
